Speaker Bios:
Chris Ainscough is currently an attorney at Dorsey & Whitney and until recently was Vice President of Product Development & Intellectual Property Counsel at Zero Emission Industries, as well as being a Council Member for the CBA IP Section. Chris has a career spanning multiple aspects of the cleantech industry, including as chief engineer at Nuvera Fuel Cells in Boston, a senior engineer at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, and as an adjunct professor at CU Boulder. Chris’s law practice focuses on IP protection for companies of all sizes from solo inventors to global multinationals. In his spare time, Chris serves as a board member for the DeAngelis Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to supporting law enforcement and school safety training and tactics for mass casualty tragedies.
Joan Beckner is Director of Intellectual Property at Monolith Materials, Inc., a next-generation chemical and energy company that has innovated and scaled thermal plasma pyrolysis to produce carbon blacks and hydrogen virtually emission-free. Previously, Joan practiced in-house with a Fortune Global 500 energy technologies company (US and UK) and as a patent litigation partner with an Am Law 50 firm. Before moving to Colorado in 2021, Joan was a founding member and active participant in the Houston (Hon. Nancy F. Atlas) IP Inn of Court.
Alyssa K. Sandrowitz is Associate General Counsel, Intellectual Property at Woodward, Inc., an independent designer, manufacturer, and service provider of control solutions for the aerospace and industrial markets, headquartered in Fort Collins, CO. Previously, Alyssa was Director and lead IP counsel with a manufacturer of power transmission belts and fluid power products as well as in private practice in Denver, CO and Washington DC. Alyssa is also currently the co-leader for the Colorado Chapter of ChIPS, a global organization with the mission to advance and connect women in technology and intellectual property law and policy.
Joe Yosick is Chief IP Counsel at the Water Quality Segment of Veralto Corporation, in Loveland, CO, as well as Chair of the CBA IP Section. His work focuses on IP strategy and IP portfolio management for a portfolio of companies in the water testing and water treatment technology space. He has over 15 years of experience as in-house IP counsel managing all aspects of IP matters. Prior to his legal career, he was a process development engineer.
