“Gift & Estate Tax Update”
Klaralee Charlton will recap the notable legislation, case law, and treasury releases from 2021 that impact transfers subject to gift or estate tax. With the lifetime gift and estate tax exemption potentially being cut in half, gifting is top of mind for many clients. Documenting and implementing these transactions is key to minimizing tax liability. Topics will include best practices for claiming portability, allocating GST tax exemption, and transferring interests in closely held entities as well as recaps of key cases passed regarding discounting and charitable deductions.
