DOL/CBA Government Counsel Annual Ethics Update

Alec Rothrock will provide a general overview of the Colorado legal ethics of the last year, as well as local and national legal authority (cases, rules, and ethics opinions) relating to the rules prohibiting bias and harassment based on race, gender, sexual orientation, etc.  

 
 

Professor Eli Wald will then work through several practical hypotheticals on the Rules of Professional Conduct 8.4(g) and 8.4(i) to explore the responsibilities of government lawyers to pursue justice, diversity, and inclusiveness and combat bias.  Professor Wald will also lead an interactive discussion on implicit bias.  

 
 

John Gleason will discuss the regulatory process in the state of Colorado.  He will provide an overview of the process and how it works for practicing attorneys.  In addition, he will address recent changes in admissions and the administrative and regulatory processes. 

 

 

Finally, Karen Masciulli, Director of Legal Talent at the Colorado Office of the Attorney General, will round out the program.  Karen will discuss the business case and the moral case for diversity, equity, and inclusion as it relates to recruiting and hiring in the legal profession.
