Economic Opportunity Zones

When:  Apr 4, 2019

Opportunity Zones were enacted as part of the TCJA in December 2017, and interest in the program has been steadily increasing. The program is designed to encourage long-term equity investment in certain designated low-income communities by providing tax incentives to investors with capital gains. The initial provisions contained little practical guidance, and the industry has been looking for additional guidance to be issued. RubinBrown will be presenting information that covers an overview of the program, analysis of the latest issued guidance from the IRS, and examples of the activity RubinBrown has been seeing in the marketplace. Tony Nitti, a partner in RubinBrown's Federal Tax Services Group working out of Denver and Tim Anderson, a partner in RubinBrown's Real Estate Services Group working out of St. Louis will be leading the Opportunity Zones discussion.
