How to Get a Client off the Registry

When:  Feb 13, 2019
Recent changes to the deregistration statute alter the procedure for filing a petition for removal from the sex offender registry. This course will train lawyers on the statutory changes, cover eligibility to petition under the statute, and discuss the specific steps that must be taken pursuant to statute to file a petition to register and argue that petition before the court. Lawyers will leave the CLE understanding how to determine eligibility to petition for removal from the registry and how to properly file and argue the petition.

This CLE is discounted to attorneys who agree to take one pro bono case to petition for removal from the registry for an adult or juvenile client through CCDB or CJDC. The training will prepare you, and these cases are very limited in scope and allow you to practice advocating before the court without a huge time commitment, as they typically involve one short hearing.

Following the CLE, join us for free drinks and appetizers at the FIRE Lounge in the Art Hotel, directly across the street from the new bar building!
