Homelessness in Colorado: Boulder’s municipal court

Description:
Two years into the pandemic, homelessness issues continue to be on the forefront in many Colorado municipalities. This presentation will touch on the current statewide overview of homelessness before turning to solutions the City of Boulder is trying through its municipal court.
Speakers:
Laurel Witt
has spent her career focused on municipal law. She started out working for the City of Denver Legislative Counsel before taking a job with the Colorado Municipal League as the associate counsel. At CML, Laurel presented and wrote on a variety of municipal issues including homelessness. Laurel now works for the City of Boulder.
Chris Reynolds
began his legal career as a Judge Advocate in the United States Marine Corps. Chris then transitioned to civilian life as an attorney for the City of Boulder working as a municipal prosecutor. Chris has focused his practice on issues surrounding homelessness, mental illness, and substance abuse.
