Coffee Talk CLE

When:  Apr 23, 2019
Special Immigrant Juvenile Status in Colorado and HB19-1042 -- April 23 from noon to 1 p.m.

Immigration courts allow for a person to have Special Immigrant Juvenile Status until the age of 21. Last August, a Colorado appellate court found that there is no jurisdiction to make custody or APR findings for any person over the age of 18. This left residents between the ages of 18 and 21, who might otherwise qualify for the Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, in a state of legal limbo.

The Colorado Legislature recently passed HB19-1042 to fix this issue. Katie Glynn, a senior associate attorney at Grob & Eirich, was part of the team that drafted the bill and helped ensure its passage.

At this DBA YLD Coffee Talk, Katie will discuss Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, the implications of HB19-1042, and other related immigration issues.
