Mesa County Fall Foliage Tour

This is an easy to moderate hike. The entire loop is 9 miles, but the actual hike length will be determined the day of according to who shows up and far everyone wants to hike. All skill levels are welcome.
  • Bring a sack lunch. We will provide other snacks and drinks at the end of the hike!

  • Directions to trailhead: Head up through the Colorado National Monument on Monument Road. You do not need to pay the entrance fee if you don't stop in the Monument. Turn left on DS Road (shortly after Cold Shivers Point Overlook). Drive 5.3 miles and turn left on 16 ½ Road (by the Glade Park Store). Continue on 16 ½ Road for about 10 miles. The pavement ends after 2.6 miles and you pass the Mud Springs Campground at 6.4 miles. Take the right fork at 7.6 miles and continue on 16 1/2 Road. Pass the turnoff to Fruita Reservoir #1, at the Fruita Picnic Area, at about 9.5 miles and reach the Turkey Flats trailhead after just over 10 miles. There is ample parking on the right side of the road across from the trailhead.  
  • Please note that the dirt road is rough and bumpy. Leave early enough to make it to the trailhead on time. Cell service is not available at the trailhead.
