Beyond Basic Medicaid – Planning or Crystal Ball?: T&E Luncheon Series - Webinar

When:  Mar 1, 2022
Planning for Medicaid involves more than knowing about a 5-year lookback and a $2,000 asset limit. To properly advise a client, you must know:
• How does a person apply for Medicaid?
• What is an asset?
• How do you avoid estate recovery?
• Can you really save the home?
There are 27 different Medicaid programs, not just Long-Term Care, that pay for Medicare, Family Assistance, Working While Disabled, and other things. Some require payback and some don’t. What is the process and how can you plan for it? The spouse is allowed to keep much more than the applicant, but there is still planning that can protect many assets. We will discuss trusts (income, special needs, pooled, third party), annuities, and reverse mortgages. Materials include a free copy of Medicaid Myths and Mistakes (written by Rose Mary Zapor) and a list of documents needed to apply for Medicaid.

Home studies will be available approximately 2-3 weeks following the live program.

If disability accommodations or special assistance are needed, please contact us at clereception@cobar.org. Requests must be made at least two weeks prior to the scheduled program.

The program will be submitted for CLE accreditation in Colorado. If you need to seek accreditation in another state, please review the process and requirements for that individual state. CBA-CLE staff can provide a Uniform Certificate of Attendance, and it is the attendee’s responsibility to complete the accreditation outside of Colorado.
