Applying ADR “Best Practices” to Natural Resource Disputes

Program Description:
This program will include a discussion regarding the application of the best practices of ADR to natural resource disputes, including disputes in oil and gas, royalty, public lands, mining and environmental matters. Case examples involving the application of these best practices will be provided, including descriptions of the risks of ADR and how to minimize those risks.  
TOPICS INCLUDE:
  •  What are the various processes in the “universe” of ADR and conflict management?
  •  What are the best practices in ADR when applied to resource and environmental disputes?
  •  In what ways do resource/environmental disputes differ from other commercial disputes?
  • Why some of these unique elements make ADR particularly appropriate
  •  The importance of conducting an early “conflict assessment.”
  •  Implications of oil & gas and royalty disputes.
  •  Risks presented in ADR and how to reduce them.
  •  More effective use of experts in “technical work groups.”
